Malleus Maleficarum

My good writing buddy sent me a link to the online version of the Malleus Maleficarum a few months back.  Written in 1486, this book was the guide used to find, try and persecute witches.

A couple of days ago, while still contemplating whether I should continue my novel efforts or not, I started to do more research and remembered my buddy’s suggestion.

Boy, does that kind of reading fuel the fire!  Whether condoned or not by the church, whether used in the Spanish Inquisition or not, it undoubtedly had an impact on women in that time period.  Published repeatedly from 1487 to 1669, I’m sure most inquisitors would have been familiar with its contents.

Looking forward to reading more and interjecting juicy bits into my story.

By the way, I recently read about the infamous La Pera (The Pear) in The Grand Inquisitor’s Manual: A History of Terror in the Name of God by Jonathan Kirsch.

Shocking.  What is wrong with people?!
