I don’t often look at my stats, but, occasionally, something on my WordPress dashboard catches my attention. Like this under my stats’ Top Searches:
pictures of being caught with your knickers down between your ankles
As dedicated readers, you all know:
- I have another blog for my pictures, and
- I don’t have any pictures that can be described thus, and
- Have I ever used the word ‘knickers’? I don’t think so.
Does make one wonder about search engines, doesn’t it?
Anyway…
Many, many thanks to Laith of Laith’s Ramblings for nominating me for the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award.
Here are the WTMRA recipient rules:
- Display the logo on his/her post/page and/or sidebar
- The Nominee must finish this sentence and post: “A Great reader is…”
- Nominate 4 readers they appreciate over a period of 7 days (1 week) – this can be done at any rate during the week. It can be ALL on one day or a few on one day and a few on another day, etc., naming his or her nominees on a post or on posts during the 1 week period.
- The Nominee shall make these rules, or amended rules, keeping to the spirit of the Wonderful Team Member Readership Award, known to each reader s/he nominates.
A Great Reader Is…someone who is touched by what they read, and then tells the world about it.
My nominations for the award are the following
- J. W. Manus of Jaye’s Love Affair with Fiction – for being an avid reader.
- M. G. Mason of Sweat, Tears and Digital Ink – for being an awesome blogger and keen observer.
- Emmie Mears – for her ability to engage other writers.
- Robert Garbin – for being a dedicated reader (and writer) of genre fiction with a message.
Cheers,
N. E. White
You are very welcome.
Oh and now you have used the word ‘knickers’
Ha! I know. Can you imagine the hits I’ll get now? Suckers.
yup. that query is a great example of why trying to write a whole sentence (without quotes) can give you odd search results.
Oh! You just made me realize I’m the sucker! I put in whole sentences (or most of a sentence) as a search term all the time. Life is funny that way, eh?
well it depends on the sentence
Laith beat me to it but now you will get many more hits because you actually used “that” term…
I know! That’s exactly why I used it. I just couldn’t resist. My apologies (not) to those truly looking for pictures of knickers down around someone’s ankles.
Remember my post from summer 2011? It was about misuse of headlines and how they grab the reader. The title was “Miley Cyrus and Vanessa Hudgens naked mud wrestling”. It was not about either of those two girls yet it was the most popular post of the year!
I do remember that. Very funny. I guess, that’s search engines for you. I’ll try my best not to abuse it again, but that was the most interesting search term I’ve gotten to-date, so it felt justified to use it.
Well thanks for the shout out Nila because it caught me completely off gaurd and I actually got more views to my blog, which has been rather forlorn. May your works continue to grow as well.
Thanks, Rob.
I just had a weird search term of my own. “Free Adult Movies” apparently links to my blog. I kid you not! I do not provide links to adult movies, free or otherwise!
Really, Matt? Are you doing some side-dealing we are not aware of? You holding out on us?
I pwwwwwwomise!
Hehe, hilarious
